Amidst a freezing blizzard Saturday night, the Latin-Amerikagruppa i Tromsø celebrated their 30th birthday with a bash at the Lykta (lighthouse). The umbrella-wrecking walk along the pier made Lykta seem like the warmest, cosiest place on Earth, although the atmosphere would have felt just as warm had we been on a sunny Guatemalan beach. Rio de Trokkones added another few centigrades to the indoor scale with wonderful salsa and bossa nova tunes, before we indulged in food, wine, speeches and banter.
And when we thought the party couldn’t get any better, Klaus’ old Tønsåsen housemate Askild walked in! He has just moved back to Tromsø after an abrupt but amicable end to the urban living experiment called Oslo.
After a few glasses of Matteus, Kristin was no longer nervous about the Latin Amerika quiz. Having swapped Guatemala away for a less frightening Argentina, she joined Walter, Håkon and Stian’s team
