Cold summer - scenic harvest

It's that time of year when berries and mushrooms should be waiting for us up the valley and into the forest. So on Sunday, in sparkling sunshine, we brought Father Chris and our guests from Erlangen, Eveline and Lea, for a taste of old-fashioned North Norwegian harvesting. Equipped with buckets, baskets and rubber boots, we drove over to Oldervik on the other side of the penninsula, where you can see across the fjord and straight into the magic of the Lyngen alps. We had a lovely hike but our buckets were still making a hollow sound towards the end of the day. With the cold summer, this year's harvest appears to be a lot richer on scenery than on jam ingredients.
