Cake but no carp
This weekend Klaus and Hillary started to build new fences on the upper side of the road. The plan is to move the sheep across and let them 'reclaim' the hill all the way up to Hillary's potato field. With more sheep to feed over the winter we need to save the grass around the house for hay production.
Yesterday, however, on May 27th, it was time to sit down and eat cake, as Klaus turned 36. After lunch on the terrace we were joined by Håkon, Hillary, Emily, Leif, Susanne and Susanne's friend Susanne(!). The cats and a couple of rabbits were also present (but no sign of Beatrix Potter). Kristin had hoped to be able to present a birthday gift that would bring life to our new pond. But while so-called koi can literally be mail-ordered (at ridiculous prices), the non-ornamental, much more practical and - most importantly - edible types of carp are proving quite hard to come by...
