Midnight farming

The nights are too bright for sleeping now. It's simply impossible to go to bed before two o'clock in the morning. Yes, it wreaks havoc with our daily routines (such as getting up in the morning!), but when the sun is out it's just too tempting to stay outdoors and make use of the arctic summer nights. Into the early hours of Sunday, Klaus and I prepared the potato field, and on Sunday afternoon we put this year's potatoes in the ground. Some are mandel (almond) and some are gulløye (golden eye). While gulløye is a northern type well-suited for this climate, mandel is tasty and very easy to grow. And with short cooking time mandel is eco-friendly, too!
