Today seems to be the last day of sunshine for a little while. Clouds from the east have already covered most of the sky and before this evening all the hay should be brought safely under roof. We feel very lucky with the slåtte-weather this year, having been able to dry all the grass on the ground (rather than mount it on so-called hesjer). One third of the hay is still spread out across the field, but it is now dry enough to assemble without the danger of self-ignition (a strange but very real hazard with pockets of wet grass). Our guests from Munich (in need of a holiday!) have gone to Lofotoen for a few days, but before they left they painted the northern boathouse wall and the new sheephouse foundation. The paint is called låverød (barn red) and looks excellent (well, it looks very traditional but sometimes traditional is okay!). Klaus can’t wait for the arrival of the sheephouse timber kit, from the JABO sawmill somewhere in northern Sweden. Isadora, Elke, Eberhard, Ida and Inga, still summer grazing across the road, are happily unaware of the plans for their winter residence upgrade: A full nine square metres, bright låverød and with lots of yummy hay inside...
