Despite plentiful supplies of hay, bread, fruit and vegetables, the sheep love to nibble the bark off pines and other trees around the farm, including two rowans (rognetrær) that we'd prefer stayed alive. Today Klaus therefore put up new fencing to separate the rowans from the sheep. And since the sheep were intent on staying on the rowan side of the fencing, Klaus used the opportunity when they were all together in a confined area, to perform this year's pedicure. Viking sheep are supposed to run around in the mountains, where the outer nails on their hooves are naturally worn down against the rocks. In grassy Tønsåsen, however, the nails just grow long and once a year we have to cut them down. Needless to say this is not something the sheep line up for. But it got done. And now the rowans are safe, too.
